Tarot reading for career
I am stuck on something at work and want a different way of looking at it.
Career questions arrive at tarot in one of two states. Either you already know what you want to do and are looking for permission, or you genuinely cannot see the shape of the choice. The cards are unhelpful for the first and quite good at the second — not because they know anything about your industry, but because a card puts an unfamiliar frame on a problem you have been turning over in the same three grooves for months. The value is the reframe, and it is worth being clear that this is what you are getting.
When this is useful
Use it when the decision has stopped being about facts. If you have the salary numbers, the commute, the org chart and the honest opinion of two people who know the place, and you are still stuck, the obstacle is no longer information. That is the point where a reading earns its keep: it asks what you are protecting, what you would do if nobody were watching, and where you have been mistaking motion for progress — questions you can act on, and that no amount of further research produces.
When it is not
It is not market research and not a substitute for asking someone who knows. If the question is whether a company is stable or whether a field is hiring, close the tab and find out.

Separate the decision from the facts
Write down what you still do not know that is knowable. Go and find that out first. What remains is the part a reading can work on.

Ask about your position, not the outcome
"What am I actually building toward" is answerable. "Will I get the promotion" is not, and a reading that pretends otherwise is worth nothing.

Use the reframe
The interpretation gives you a way of holding the situation you probably have not tried. Its usefulness is measured by what you do differently afterwards, not by whether it came true.

- Can tarot tell me whether to take a job?
- It can help you work out what you actually want from the choice, which is usually the stuck part. It cannot evaluate the company, the salary or the manager. Do that research first; bring the reading the part that is left.
- What should I ask about a career change?
- Something about your own motives. "What am I moving toward, and what am I moving away from" tends to produce more than "should I change careers", because the second is a decision and the first is the information the decision needs.
- Is a career reading different from a general one?
- The interpretation takes the category as context, so a career reading is framed in those terms. The cards, the spread and the model are the same, and a well-phrased career question read under General still gets a career answer.
