How the daily card works
The card is worked out from the date and from you — your account if you are signed in, otherwise the browser you are reading in. That makes it stable: the same card all day, whether you come back at noon or at midnight, and a different one tomorrow. It also makes it un-rerollable, which is deliberate. A card you can refresh until it says something you like has stopped being a card of the day and become a slot machine.
What to do with it is smaller than it sounds. Read the card, keep the question in your pocket, and notice during the day where it fits and where it plainly does not. The mismatches are often the more useful half — a card that feels wrong usually tells you something specific about why.

- Is the card of the day random?
- It is deterministic rather than random: the same card all day, drawn from your account or your browser and the date. Reloading will not change it, which is the point — a card you can reshuffle until you like it is not a card of the day.
- Does the card predict what will happen today?
- No, and it is not trying to. A daily card is a prompt: one image and one question to carry around, so that whatever the day turns out to contain, you notice a particular aspect of it. Nothing here forecasts events.
- Why did I get a different card from someone else?
- Because the draw is seeded per person. Signed in, your card follows your account across devices. Signed out, it follows the browser you are using.
- What is the point of a daily card?
- Mostly attention. Reading a card in the morning gives you a frame you would not otherwise have picked, and the useful part is usually noticing where it does and does not fit — including when it plainly does not.
